Diamonds Aren’t Forever

So its been a while since I’ve had anything to do with anything that was console related. Console is where I grew up, i especially nurtured in the hands of hand-held consoles. So I’ve decided to pick my DS up again.

I am also a fanatic, a catch em all, they’re my best friend, Pokemon fanatic. To celebrate this I’ve start playing Pokemon Diamond again :D.

The last few weeks I’ve been having trouble finding what to write about, I’ve thought  about the looming Modern Warfare 2 (or as I like to call it COD42). Then there’s the controversy over L4D2 and its alleged banning in Australia. These are both flaming hot topics and have been done to death by every blog spot this side of the internet.

So to be a little diffrent I’m gonna play. And let you guys read about it :D.

So to kick us off I started with Chimchar. Not only for my sun facination with fire but also because he can fling FLAMING POO, as in POO ON FIRE.

So I’ll update as often as I can as I make my way across the region in the attempt to not catch them all, but finish a game with a HORRIBLE storyline 😛

It’s all in the Teamwork

I play A LOT, and in that usually I win A LOT. I am also probably one of the most average players on the market, in a team with skill levels ranging from the elite to the begininers. Yet even up against unrealistic odds we come out on top. So where am I going with this? Not trying to build a reputation but show what makes any team great, teamwork.

When you come together as a group, as a team and work together (see what I did thar?) you multiply what ever skill level you have by 10. A team of 5 can whip out a team of 7 if they pull together. In the same regard the best player in the world would be schooled by 2 people working together.

So now your saying “Alright, working together as a team is win …. How do i do that?”

The first part to understand and what most people find it hard to get past is that the Team is greater than the sum of its parts. This in general means you work for the team, you fight for the team, and in a lot of cases you get fragged for the team (some old school language there).

In saying this you have to pull together, meaning its for the team so work as a team. So you wait for your teammates to catchup, you push together at the same time, and don’t go for the glory. It is better to move as fast as your slowest member because having a team of 5 rocking up at the same time is more frightening then having 5 people rockup incrementally.

This topic is by no means complete but hopefully its a good starter or pointer.

Dispensers Erected

Bit of a discussion entry this one.

So I’ve found that now after weeks of waiting TF2 at long last is back to normal. After weeks and weeks of clacking and “Need a Dispencer here” it seems that the balance is now retained. Those chasing the achievements for the weapons are back to thier classes, those trying the scout for the first time have found either a new love or prehaps (hopefully) a little respect for the class, those who played because it was a cheap win have moved on.

It’ll never be normal now with the bat, the sandman. It adds a whole new vector to the game with the stun ability. But. Scouts arent quite so cheap anymore, quite so easy, quite so wasted. Standard weapons measure up again as a good rival for the unlockables.

Can you say Clan?

So as an experienced or new player there is always the problem of who you’re gonna play with. And with this comes what type of Clan you want to join.

So for those of us who are casual players the best sort of clan is made up of those friends you play with a lot and those who barely ever come online. Usually it’s something with the best and meanest name on the net and really gives you a good laugh and unifies you as a group. Hopefully it is run by one of your friends and you know what is expected or rather what isn’t expected of you. Just remember if you want a group like this it does involve work but is well worth the effort from and Admin POV (Point-of-view)

The second type of the clan is for those of us who are competitive. Who want to be the Kings (and possibly Queens) of Ladders. Who want to laugh in the face of our opponents while a team mate shoots them in the head. Bloodlust, desire. If you’ve got yourself a good captain and are dedicated enough it can be an enjoyable experience. But you just have to be careful about how involved you want to be because these types of clans are like another Job.

The third type of Clan, the one which almost everyone has one of is Supporter Clans. From the funny of the Heavy Sandvich Eating Committee to the activist of Stop the Great Firewall of Australia, they all have the same intention in mind. Mass members, high impact, to get their message across. Usually something that you will occasionally do something for or be part of for the sake of being part of.

Now the fourth type of Clan and possibly the most scary yet fun is for those stuck between the first two types. It could be the admin wants to take what he believes (and could possibly be) the most epic team in the world and show them off to the world. Who wants to be part of the big ladders. But the members didn’t join for that. The other subdivision here is for those who portray themselves as the casual gaming clan but there are a lot of strings attached, be here at a certain time, wear the clan tag, be on this Vent channel and the end of the sentence is usually or else.

With these groups if the admin can take himself seriously enough to challenge other clans but have the humility to not take it seriously it is a very enjoyable experience all around. Getting caught up is the difficult part.

Found yourself in a clan that isn’t quite so casual? Talk to me, come play with my bunch, if your happy, easy going and can laugh at yourself add Whit3Crow to steam and we can talk. No one deserves to have their own clan bent back on them.

So if you are looking at joining a clan, take the time. Play a lot with them; don’t join until you know what there about. If you’re forming a clan have the initial goal in mind and stick to it. If you form a casual clan and want to go pro my advice is form a Pro clan and then add members to that.

There is a clan to suit everybody so do the digging
